Hike to the heavenly lake Ala-Kul
Ala-Kul is an incredibly beautiful lake located in the eastern part of the Terskey-Ala-Too ridge on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, at an altitude of 3532 meters. It is of glacial origin. Translated means “Variegated Lake”.
The size of the lake is almost 3 kilometers long and 500 meters wide. The total length of the coastline is 7 kilometers. The lake is over 70 meters deep.
The lake is attractive not only for its colors: bright turquoise water coexists with snow, green grass and mountain flowers of various shades, even in summer, but also the road to it, which runs through the picturesque Karakol gorge, with majestic views of the mountains and Tien Shan forests.
Alpine cold, brightly shining sun and rocky shores of Lake Ala-Kul allow the traveler to feel himself in the kingdom of silence and serenity.
A two-day hike to the stunning Ala-Kel is the highlight of a trip to Kyrgyzstan for many tourists.
